 Navigating special education can be a challenge, especially when thinking about all of the components of IFSPs and IEPs. In this training, we will dive into special education related services and the continuum of services available to children.  We will critically examine classroom spaces to find opportunities to enhance the learning environment for all students. Through this examination, you will dissect and apply developmentally appropriate differentiation strategies necessary to meet the needs of children with special needs in your care. 

 Culture is embedded in everything we do and the classroom is no different.  However, the way we respond to culture, as educators, must be different and will have a significant impact on your students and their success or failure.  Through this training, participants will critically examine the different ways day-to-day experiences impact children and their cultural identification.  Participants will discuss and identify barriers and current best practices to develop a culturally responsive setting for all students.   .

 Being involved in the classroom is so much more than phone calls home and attending meetings, but what does that look like? In this session we will dive deep into the various ways families and educators can work together to support children through family engagement.  In this session participants will learn about conventional and unconventional ways to help families get involved in the classroom. 

 Have you ever wondered how curriculum is developed, how it supports the learning for all children?  In this training, we will work through current research, principles and practices to gain a deeper understanding of curriculum development.  We will use current research to discuss and develop new ideas on how to create a curriculum, which is culturally responsive, developmentally appropriate and inclusive.   

Special Education law has many different components. If you struggle to understand these laws and the ways they may impact your program, this is the session for you.  During this session, we will compare various critical cases related to special education law and the impact it has on programs supporting families in early care and beyond.  Additionally, you will critically examine current program policies and procedures to develop and implement changes based on current special education law.
